THE FIRST AND ONLY MENOPAUSE CENTRE IN SOUTHERN ALBERTA
WHERE WOMEN'S HEALTH IS REDEFINED WITH COMPASSION, COLLABORATION AND CLARITY.

Hi, I’m Dr. Shafeena Premji, a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner (MSCP) for over 10 years and a Family Physician since 2012, with a Fellowship in Women’s Health.
For more than a decade, I’ve devoted my career to helping women navigate every hormonal milestone — from puberty and pregnancy to perimenopause and menopause — with evidence, empathy, and understanding.
My passion for this work began long before medicine. When I was thirteen, my mother quietly went through menopause at forty-three — the same time I began my own menstrual journey. She didn’t have the language, knowledge, or support to understand what was happening to her body, and I didn’t either. Years later, I realized how deeply that silence shaped me.
During my residency at Queen’s University in 2012, I met Dr. Elaine Jolly, one of Canada’s pioneers in menopause medicine. Her warmth, wisdom, and patient-centred care opened my eyes to what true menopause care could look like — thoughtful, evidence-based, and deeply human.
Milestone was born from that vision.
We first launched in March 2024, and now we’re taking our next step forward. In early 2026, we’ll open the doors to our new, expanded multidisciplinary centre — a larger, purpose-built space designed to offer the most comprehensive menopause care in Southern Alberta.
Our team includes multiple physicians experienced in menopause care, along with nurses, therapists, and allied health professionals — all sharing the same philosophy: care that is compassionate, collaborative, and rooted in science.
At Milestone, we go beyond managing symptoms — we help women become informed, empowered and confident through midlife and beyond.
Our approach integrates:
-
Menopausal hormone therapy (MHT) as recommended by The Canadian Menopause Society and The Menopause Society guidelines
-
Sexual health support and treatment for genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM), including collaboration with pelvic health physiotherapists
-
1-to-1 Strength training and nutrition programs to support bone, muscle, and weight health
-
Breast health education and screening guidance
-
Bone health and osteoporosis education with fracture-risk assessment and prevention strategies
-
Heart health education and guidance for cardiovascular risk reduction
-
Sleep, mood, and brain health strategies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) support
Because true menopause care isn’t just about managing change — it’s about helping women feel strong, informed, and empowered to live fully.
Beyond the clinic, I’m honoured to serve on the Board of Directors for the Canadian Menopause Society and the Medical Advisory Board for the Menopause Foundation of Canada — two national organizations leading research, education, and advocacy to advance women’s midlife health.
I also speak across Canada, sharing evidence-based education with workplaces and health professionals. From corporate menopause education sessions with Suncor Energy, Sun Life, Blackberry and ATCO Energy, to national events such as the National Menopause Show in Toronto and the Aging Powerfully with Melissa Grelo podcast, I’m deeply committed to helping women — and those who care for them — understand this powerful stage of life, I also regularly teach pharmacists, naturopaths, and nurse practitioners to expand menopause medicine knowledge across disciplines.
This next chapter of Milestone is about building something extraordinary — for you.
A space where women can finally receive the care they deserve: informed, compassionate, and complete.
Stay tuned and join our community as we share our journey toward opening day.
Subscribe for updates, insights, and behind-the-scenes moments as we bring this vision to life — together.
With gratitude and respect,
